It's never too late to have your baby photographed. However, it is important to know what to expect.
Curled up sleeping newborn photos are never guaranteed but are usually achievable with babies under 2 weeks old. A 6-week-old baby may sleep during the session and may be partially awake, but may no longer be able to curl up in the womb position or may no longer want to be swaddled. We believe that babies can be photographed at any age.
Many babies don't sleep during their session. Some are awake the entire session! We can usually still take beautiful photos, especially when they are swaddled!
Babies are babies, and they will cry! We do everything we can to comfort them and surround them with a comfortable environment.
Anja has completed several specific workshops, she has a lot of experience, and she has many comforting techniques and good tips.
Anja has a reputation for achieving a successful and varied gallery of newborn photos, even with difficult babies. We will do everything we can to get beautiful newborn photos and to comfort and calm your baby, completely swaddled if necessary.
In the event that it is truly impossible to photograph your baby, we will discuss the options during the session.
Feel free to watch the "Behind the Scenes" video on the homepage.
Absolutely. Your family is an important part of this new chapter.
Parents, brothers, sisters, and even your dog are welcome to join the photo session.
During the discovery call, we will discuss who you would like to include,
so that we can create images that truly reflect what this moment means to you.
If the baby heals well, then yes. Most babies are completely healed before their session. Many parents use Vaseline or another gel prescribed by their doctor to aid healing. We will keep the area protected and we do not take nude photos in any case.
If your baby has had a delayed circumcision, they can still do the session and all normal precautions will be taken. Feel free to bring this up during the session. We want you to be fully involved in the process.
Yes! Most babies still have their umbilical cord, which usually takes two weeks to fall off. Some babies even lose it during the session! We always keep the diaper on and cover the umbilical cord so that it doesn't get on the fabric. We are very careful with newborns and we are aware that aftercare is very important.
Children are children, and we do our best to work with them at every age. We do have a few tricks up our sleeves, and with your approval, we can promise them a reward if they let us take some nice photos.
Yes! All photos are edited! We always use Photoshop to remove temporary issues such as red feet, rashes, jaundice, flaky skin on the hands and feet, etc. We leave other issues such as moles or birthmarks, because these are permanent and part of the baby's identity.
After the session, I will get to work as quickly as possible to fully edit one photo per setup. Once these are ready, I will organize a design session where you can choose your photos yourself.
After that, your favorite photos will be edited, and you will usually receive your digital files, which belong to the album or treasure box, 1 to 2 weeks after the design session.
You want meaning.
A moment in your life
that deserves to be paused for a moment.
Not to decide.
Not to plan.
But to feel what this moment does to you.
That is why every session at ESSENCE OF YOU
starts with a personal discovery call.
A relaxed conversation
in which you don't need to prepare anything
or make any decisions.
Just space
for your story
and what is truly valuable to you.
